A hybrid breed is a breed obtained by crossing a domestic and a wild animal of the same class.

The most famous breeds of hybrid dogs are: wolfdog.

The most famous breeds of hybrid cats are: Bengal, Chausie, Savannah.

There are restrictions on the transportation of such animals by most airlines, as well as on their import into a number of countries. Hybrids of generations below F5 are not subject to import.

Hybrid dog breeds:

  • Wolfdog – a hybrid of a wolf and a domestic dog
  • Sarloos wolfdog – a hybrid of a gray wolf and a German shepherd
  • Italian wolfdog (Lupo Italiano) – a hybrid of an Italian (Apennine) wolf and a German shepherd
  • Coydog – a hybrid of a coyote and a domestic dog
  • Sulimov’s dog (Shabaka, Shalaika, Shakalaika, Quadroon) – a hybrid of a jackal and a domestic dog
  • Czechoslovakian wolfdog (Czechoslovakian vlcak) – a hybrid of a Carpathian wolf and a German shepherd

Hybrid cat breeds:

  • Bengal – a hybrid of a Bengal and a domestic cat
  • Caracat – a hybrid of a caracal and a domestic cat
  • Savannah – a hybrid of a serval and a domestic cat
  • Safari – a hybrid of a Geoffroy’s cat and a domestic cat
  • Serengeti – a hybrid of a Bengal cat, an oriental, an Abyssinian cat and a European shorthair
  • Chausie (Chausie, Chausie) – a hybrid of a wild jungle cat and a domestic cat

To export a hybrid animal abroad, in addition to the standard documents and vaccinations required for cats or dogs, it must have at least the F5 generation, as well as documents confirming this.

If an animal has an F1-F4 generation, it is considered wild and will be imported into the country according to the rules of the Convention on Protected Wild Animals – CITES.
