Document requirements
1. Import Permit:
You must obtain an import permit for your animal from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Bahamas. To do this, you must fill out a form, download it from the ministry’s website, fill it out and send it by email to minagriculturalmarine@bahamas.gov.bs.
2. Veterinary Passport:
You must have an international veterinary passport, which contains information about the animal, the owner, as well as notes on vaccinations and treatments.
3. Microchipping:
The animal must be microchipped in accordance with international standards ISO 11784/11785.
4. Rabies Vaccination:
You must have a rabies vaccination, done no later than one month before the trip. You may also need to have a rabies antibody titer test. 5. Prevention against worms:
10-14 days before rabies vaccination, the animal must be treated against worms.
Vaccination requirements
Pets entering the Bahamas are required to have a rabies vaccination and a health certificate issued no more than 48 hours prior to arrival.
Import Permi
You must obtain permission to import the animal from the Bahamas Ministry of Agriculture.
To do this, you need to download the form from the Ministry’s website, fill it out and send it by email: minagriculturalmarine@bahamas.gov.bs
The application processing time is two working days, the cost of the permit is about $11
Оther pets
The import and export of rare and endangered animals (especially sea turtles) is prohibited.
To import rabbits and rodents into The Bahamas, an Import Permit is required, which must be obtained in advance from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The permit must be applied for at least 4 weeks before the intended date of import.
For rabbits, an application must also be made at least 30 days before import.
There are no restrictions for most rodents, with the exception of prairie dogs, Gambian pouched rats, some squirrels and rodents from Africa. A veterinary certificate confirming the health of the animal is mandatory.
Banned Dog Breeds
The following breeds of dogs are prohibited from import to the Bahamas:
- American Bulldog
- Dogo Argentino
- Cane Corso
- Pit Bull
- Presa Canario
- Staffordshire Terrier
Transit
If transit is through the same airport or port, a transit permit may not be required, but the animal must be isolated from other animals.

2. Microchip:
Make sure your pet has a microchip that complies with ISO 11784 or 11785.
3. Export Permit:
Application for an export permit for your pet from the Bahamas Ministry of Agriculture.
4. Clinical Examination:
A few days prior to travel, have your pet examined by a licensed veterinarian in the Bahamas. The veterinarian should issue a veterinary certificate stating that the animal is healthy and fit to travel.

To obtain permission to export your pet from the Bahamas, you must contact the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources of the Bahamas. You will need to provide a veterinary certificate confirming the health and vaccination status of the animal, as well as fill out an export application.
