Document requirements
1. Microchip:
All pets (dogs, cats, ferrets) must be identified by a microchip implanted under the skin.
2. Rabies vaccination:
A valid rabies vaccination is required, given at least at 12 weeks of age and 21 days after vaccination.
3. Pet passport:
A pet passport (EU Pet Passport or veterinary certificate) with vaccination and microchip stamps must be provided.
4. Rabies serology test:
For animals from non-EU countries, a serology test must be provided, confirming the presence of sufficient antibodies to rabies.
5. Declaration:
A declaration must be provided confirming that the animal is not imported for sale.
6. Quantity restrictions:
A maximum of 5 animals per person may be imported

The minimum age for animals to enter Austria is 7 months.

Document requirements
Health certificate:
Not required. If necessary, you can have an antiparasitic treatment and a stamp of the veterinary examination.
Certificate for departure:
Obtain at the Municipal Department 60 (also known as Magistrat 60 or MA60) in Vienna or Bezirkshauptmannschaft in other cities. You must make an appointment online or in person at the MA60 office in advance. You must come in person with the animal (dogs need a muzzle and leash), with the animal’s passport (it must contain a chip, vaccinations) and with the passport with which you will travel. If the animal has a European passport, they can also sign it on the Legalisation page.
The cost of the certificate is 24.10 euros for cats and dogs, 16.4 euros for other animals, payment by card only.

Validity of the certificate
10 days for leaving the country, then the certificate is valid until the end of the route, unless otherwise stated. That is, you need to get the certificate 10 days or less before the start of the trip.
Rabies titers
Needed for traveling to a country that is “red for rabies” and returning back to the EU, as well as to Israel, China, Turkey without returning.
