First things first: the biggest news of 2026. As of late 2025, AJet officially stopped transporting pets in the cargo hold. If your pet doesn’t fit in the cabin, they won’t be flying AJet. This makes AJet the ultimate boutique choice for small travelers, but a “no-go” for the big hounds.
Who’s Invited to the Party? (In-Cabin Only)
AJet is quite specific about who gets a boarding pass. The “VIP” (Very Important Pet) list includes:
- Dogs & Cats: The classic travelers.
- Small Songbirds: Budgerigars and canaries are welcome to sing their way through the flight.
- The “No-Fly” List: Reptiles, rodents, and large parrots are strictly grounded.
The Golden Rule: Weight & Size
Space on a plane is tighter than a pair of skinny jeans after a vacation. To fly in the cabin, your pet must meet these “petite” standards:
- Weight Limit: A maximum of 8 kg (17.6 lbs). This includes the weight of the pet plus the carrier. (Time to swap those heavy gourmet treats for some light kibble!)
- Carrier Dimensions: Your pet’s “suite” must be no larger than 23 x 30 x 40 cm.
- Soft Case Only: AJet requires soft-sided carriers for the cabin. They must be leak-proof, ventilated, and able to fit snugly under the seat in front of you.
The Paperwork (A.K.A. The Paws-port)
AJet won’t let your pet board on a whim. You’ll need a folder full of “credentials”:
- Vaccination & Health Certificates: Up-to-date records are mandatory.
- The Microchip: Your pet must be chipped to match their ID.
- Reservation: You must book your pet’s spot in advance. Spots are limited per aircraft, so don’t leave it until the airport check-in!
🚫 The “Not Invited” List: Breed Restrictions
AJet has a strict policy regarding “Strong” or “Dangerous” breeds. The following are not permitted on any flight:
- Dogs: Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, and American Bully.
- Birds: The African Grey Parrot (Psittacus Erithacus) is a no-flyer due to CITES-1 protections.
Destination Drama: UK, UAE, and Bahrain
Not all borders are open to four-legged tourists.
- UAE & Bahrain: Unfortunately, AJet cannot accept pets in the cabin for flights to these countries due to local regulations.
- United Kingdom: You can fly your pet to the UK in the cabin, but they must be in a soft shell carrier. Remember, the UK has zero tolerance for “Cargo Pets” (AVIH) on AJet, so it’s cabin or nothing!
How Much Will it Cost?
Think of this as your pet’s “seat fee.”
- Domestic (Turkey): Usually starts around 450 TL – 600 TL.
- International: Expect to pay between €40 and €85 depending on the route.
Pro Tip: For connecting flights, the fee is usually charged per segment. Your wallet might feel the “layover” just as much as you do!
